Taste Story
This sweet, fruity and creamy lot comes from the mountains in the Chirripó region of Costa Rica. You’ll experience delightful fruit sensations like mango and papaya. As it cools you’ll find a creamsicle like sweetness that blends with a winey punch for an unforgettable experience. This lot offers plenty of flavors that can be teased out via drip or espresso.
What is Honey Processing?
Honey processing is named for the sticky mucilage that remains on the coffee cherry after pulping. This process imparts wonderful flavors but also helps conserve water. This particular lot is a full honey, also known as black honey, meaning that all of the mucilage was left on the coffee cherry as it dried.
Farmer Profile
Ricardo Ureña Rojas and his siblings honor their parents' work by demonstrating exceptional care for the coffee and the environment, specializing in coffees that require minimal water usage. In 2005, their parents, Régulo Ureña and Isabel Rojas founded Café Rivense in the Brunca Region near the Chirripó Mountain. The initial micro mill Cafe Rivense del Chirripó has blossomed into a collection of several farms. Their facilities also serve as micro mills for other coffee farmers in the region. Ricardo and his siblings oversee the operations dutifully to ensure their family’s legacy lives on.
