Deri Kidame - Ethiopia

Deri Kidame

Taste Story

This natural lot from Ethiopia’s Guji Hambela region pairs fruity sweetness, and floral delicateness for a tasty drinking experience. Immediately, you’re greeted with berry notes like raspberry and blueberry. In the background is a mellow sugary sweet sensation. For some brown sugar and others old school ribbon candy. A nice black tea finish brings together very nicely for a layered drinking experience.

Processing Journey

When the coffee cherries arrive at the processing station they are separated into 700 kilogram batches, and laid out on drying beds. The coffee dries for 18-21 days depending on the conditions. During the first two days the coffee is hand rotated every hour to ensure even drying; and consistent exposure to sunlight and air.

Farmer Profile

The cherries for this lot come from the forests Dimtu & Dari Kojowa in Hambela. The hardworking small lot farmers in the region partner with the Tracon processing company, a family run operation with around 30 processing stations in Ethiopia. The buyers from the Tracon processing team designate lots based on villages to keep things consistent. This allows for greater quality control and deeper relationships between the farmers and Tracon. Tracon provides training and financial support to the diligent farmers they partner with.
