Suke Natural - Ethiopia
Suke Natural
Taste Story
A rich mouthfeel meets sweetness in this natural process coffee from the Guji region of Ethiopia. It has a nice fruity sweetness that will remind some of kiwi or melons. In the finish you’ll experience a feeling that is reminiscent of old school cola. There’s a lot to love with this one.
Processing Journey
Hand harvested coffee cherries are laid on raised beds for 20-23 days. The cherries are rotated by hand every hour for two days to avoid uneven drying. The cherries receive consistent exposure to air, and sunlight. After this drying period the cherries are transferred to another facility to have the dried husk removed. Once this is complete the coffee is sorted by size, density and quality.
Farmer Profile
Suke Werekata is a remote village in the Uraga region of Ethiopia that is home to several hundred small farmers. Farmers of this region often intercrop their coffee plants with other food plants to maximize space, and feed their families. Many of these farms use very little fertilizer or pesticides. These diligent farmers harvest their coffee by hand each season before delivering it to the local Tracon processing mill. Tracon operates the Suke Werekata Washing Station that empowers local farmers to reach their potential.
